Marian Consecration for Families with Young Children: Frequently Asked Questions

I often get questions about my book, Marian Consecration for Families with Young Children, and while a lot of information is available on the book’s page here and also over at OSV’s site, I did want to tackle a few of the most common questions asked. So without further ado, here are some Marian Consecration FAQs for you:

My children are older, will this book still work for our family?

Yes, absolutely! While the book was written to be accessible to young children, it’s use it not confined to them. In fact, many families with older children are finding it very fruitful.

You will find that none of the text is childish and that in keeping with the Montessori principles that underline my approach in writing it, none of the concepts are dumbed down. The conversation starters are open ended and designed to help you lead your child as deeply as they are able to go, which means that they are very easily adapted to use with older children.

What if we’re new to Marian devotions? Do we have to have an already established one to use this book?

Not at all. The content will help you learn about Our Lady and guide your family deeper into relationship with her gently. Don’t be intimidated.

I don’t think my kids are ready for 33 days of prayer in a row. Can we still read the book?

Yes. Absolutely. In our house, my kids love to take the book out and read a few pages before bed, just like we do any other bedtime story.

Each page is designed to stand on it’s own as well as being part of the whole, so you can read it however works best for your family. The 33 day format is meant to be a guide that helps you, not a rule to intimidate you. So whether you read a page a night, a page a week, or several together as a bedtime story, this book is for you.

Can we use this book in a group setting?

Yes you can. Whether your group is as small as a homeschool co-op or as large as a parish, whether you are meeting in person or virtually, you’ll find tips and help for all types of groups on my Journey Together page. There’s even a handy pdf you can download and print out.

And don’t forget, you can always send me a message if you’ve got any questions I haven’t answered!
